Motor Skills Programme

Our graded motor skills programme is designed to develop a child’s foundation movement skills (balance, posture, organisation and planning), in a fun way. Our therapists will design a structured plan with specific targets to improve a child’s movement ability.

As the programmes are personalised they can include additional areas of:

Pre dressing skills
Oral motor work
Pre writing
Visual perception

The programme can be implemented on an individual or group basis and we will modify the activities according to the child’s needs. Activities can also be incorporated into the nursery environment.

School staff will be trained and supported to implement the programmes or we can provide school with trained OT staff who can run the programme alongside your staff to support their training and development for either a term or full year.

The ultimate aim is to improve a child’s fine/gross motor skills thereby facilitating their ability to concentrate, sit upright and learn.

Our therapists at Tree Tops are passionate about working with educational staff to grow their knowledge and skills. School staff will be trained and supported when learning to work with children affected by sensory and motor difficulties to integrate the programmes designed for them.

Many children with learning difficulties will have sensory processing difficulties, causing them to struggle with every day experiences like movement and sound. We will assess and design individual programmes and work with teachers on how to implement these into children's routines.
