A day in the life of…Diane
I audio type the occupational therapy reports as well as do other admin duties for 16 hours per week. For the remainder of the week, I work as a Supply Teacher.
I learned to touch type nearly 40 years ago on a manual typewriter at the local College; for those old enough to remember, pressing the key down with your little finger was quite a challenge! Moving on, this skill has served me well as I have worked in offices for over 16 years in a variety of work places: Northumbria University, Audit Commission, Department for National Savings and US Forces in Germany to name a few.
When my children started school, I decided to fulfil an ambition of mine which was to become a teacher. I went to Durham University and completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Primary Education. I have since worked as a primary school teacher for thirteen years. A couple of years ago, I resigned from full time teaching in order to spend more time with my family. I now enjoy supply teaching and also working at Tree Tops. Both jobs complement each other as they are with children. I find the reports I type interesting and extremely helpful for teachers and parents.
In my home life, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two daughters, our dog and two cats. I go to the odd quiz now and again, enjoy holidays abroad and at home, now that we have a small caravan, and am also enjoying researching my family tree.
