Signs and Symptoms of Sensory Processing Disorder
Signs of Sensory Processing Disorder or Dysfunction of Sensory Integration may include:
- Difficulty being at the right level of alertness
- Physical clumsiness
- Stooping posture
- Poor awareness of body and in relation to others and objects
- Poor self esteem
- Difficulty sitting still-fidgeting
- Extreme sensitivity to some sensory experience ie touch, sound, sight
- Poor ability to learn new movements
- Social and emotional difficulties
In addition the person may:
- Be Easily Distracted
- Be Impulsive
- Have Poor Attention
- Have Delayed speech, language understanding
- Have Specific learning difficulties
- Have Specific perceptual difficulties
- Have Poor self care
Getting help is important if you suspect someone has SPD.
