How does it feel to over register sensory input?

Have you ever thought about how your child or pupil feels?  Take a look at this and see how you feel after reading this short explanation.

We liken it to driving along a road in the rain. At first it is light rain and you don’t mind. Your brain can interpret this as not important.

It gets heavier to the point you can’t see a thing. You have to ensure your wipers are doing their job. But what would happen if they weren’t working? You would panic!

This is how a child feels when they over register sensory input. The wipers are not working right, or not working at all, they are not consistent or even too slow because it can’t wipe the rain away. This would be a horrible feeling and you wouldn’t feel safe to drive. It’s the same with our children.
